The March Break countdown is officially on! You\u2019ve spent countless hours deliberating destinations, reading reviews and crunching the budget before you decided on the perfect destination for your family. Now that March Break is mere days away, the whole family is excited about the beach, ski slopes or historic sites that await them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make sure your vacation goes off without a hitch, consider these five tips before you head off on your holiday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Know your baggage allowance<\/strong> \u2013 each airline has its own baggage allowance policy, which can differ based on the destination you\u2019re going to and the fare class you\u2019ve purchased. To avoid costly surprises at the airport, double check your invoice for your baggage allowance and associated fees, if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Have the right documentation in place<\/strong> \u2013 Some destinations require travel visas or that your passport is valid for another six months beyond your return date. And, if only one parent or guardian is travelling with a child, consider bringing a consent letter<\/a> that shows the other parent or guardian consents to the travel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Confirm that you\u2019re covered<\/strong> \u2013 While some travellers may think they are covered through their credit card or group benefits plans, it\u2019s always a smart idea to know exactly what your coverage includes and to purchase additional insurance if there are any gaps.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. Check your flight status <\/strong>\u2013 March weather can be unpredictable, so be sure to check your flight status before you depart for the airport. Even if it\u2019s sunny and clear where you are, there might be a storm in the destination your plane is arriving from.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Arrive early<\/strong> \u2013 March Break is a peak travel time at airports, meaning lines for parking, check-in, baggage drop-off and security screening might be significantly longer than normal. Be sure to leave yourself lots of time to get through the whole process and avoid the undue stress of possibly missing your flight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
